Stuck in the Past

This week Fat Albert read an article from The Chronicle of Higher Education entitled Dwelling in Possibilities by a professor at UVa. At first Fat Albert was intrigued about what it was that this professor had to say about the possibilities that his students now hold being part of a Internet literate nation and having been the first generation to literally grow up with the Internet being something that comes naturally rather than something that needed to have been learned. The Internet was surely something that generations behind that of Fat Albert's needed to learn how to utilize and as such has left them being the largest skeptics or the biggest supporters. It all depends on the state of mind of the individual. Fat Albert was left disheartened after having read this article because rather than praising the modern student for his constant desire to strive for more and expand their possibilities, this professor found it necessary to criticize us for wanting too much and leaving ourselves vulnerable. What this sounds like to F.A. is a educator that has not updated himself for teaching in modern times but instead is still stuck in antiquity and feels as though he does not have to change. Rather than embracing the new possibilities that have presented themselves to us, this professor feels it necessary to criticize that which is not in line with his line of thinking and disguise it at being protective of his students and the children of this nation. Well fuck that. Step down you old geezer or I'll sit on you.
